Welcome to St James’ Church of England Primary School

We are delighted to welcome you and your family to St James’ Church of England Primary School.

This page has been designed to provide you with useful information about our school and to answer some of the questions you may have. You can also download a copy of our school prospectus for further information. If you have any additional questions, our friendly office team will be happy to help.

Starting school is an exciting milestone and we understand how important it is for children and their families to feel happy, confident and supported. We are committed to ensuring that every child joining our Reception classes enjoys a positive and welcoming start to their school journey, settles quickly into their new environment and develops a lifelong love of learning.

St James’ is a Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School, situated across three sites. We currently have 371 pupils on roll, with two classes in each year group. Our Nursery and Preschool provision also offers funded early education for eligible children aged two, three and four, providing a nurturing and stimulating environment in which our youngest learners can grow, explore and thrive. One of the sites is currently being developed into a specialist inclusion base - opening soon!

As a Church of England school, our Christian values are at the heart of everything we do. We strive to create a caring, inclusive and supportive school community where every child feels valued, develops confidence and is encouraged to achieve their full potential.

We place great importance on the strong partnerships we build with our families and believe that working together is key to helping every child flourish. Throughout the school year, we will keep you informed about school life, special events and important updates through our regular newsletters and communications.

We hope you find the information on our website helpful and that your child enjoys a happy, successful and memorable journey through their years at St James’.
